What are your upcoming projects?
I am auditioning for professional musical theatre companies across China.
Your Time at Leeds Conservatoire
What's your favourite memory from your time at Leeds Conservatoire?
My favourite memory was devising our original show The Other Frances. We built characters together in rehearsal, testing creative choices as an ensemble without fixed, rigid scripts.
What do you miss the most from your time studying at Leeds Conservatoire?
I miss the safe, collaborative rehearsal culture deeply. Everyone’s creative input was welcomed; we could propose ideas, test choices openly, and build narrative together as a supportive artistic community.
Do you have any advice for students who are considering moving to the UK to study?
Embrace every chance for ensemble devising and collaborative creation. Speak up with your creative ideas freely, do not fear making bold artistic choices, and be patient with yourself as you adapt to new training styles and cross-cultural theatre practices.
Your Time in Leeds
Why did you choose to study in Leeds?
I chose Leeds Conservatoire for its unique devised musical theatre system. It strongly encourages and supports students’ continuous innovation, focusing on ensemble creation, character storytelling and authentic vocal training that matches my artistic pursuit.
Have you stayed after graduating? What surprised you the most compared to your home country?
I have returned to China after graduation. What impressed me most is Leeds’ unique creative training mode. It highly focuses on students’ independent thinking and personalized artistic creation in every rehearsal and production.
