Thirteen institutions across West Yorkshire, including Leeds Conservatoire, have developed a collaborative response to support care-experienced students.

The conservatoire secured performance and placement opportunities for students and recent graduates this summer through continued festival partnerships.

This new partnership has been developed with a focus on identifying collaboration opportunities that directly address the organisations’ shared commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Musical Theatre and Popular Music students from the conservatoire performed as part of the choir in a brand-new work by musician Corinne Bailey Rae and choreographer Sharon Watson.

The project will explore how, through partnership and co-design, the conservatoire can engage with community groups and trial new ways of creating relevant orchestral experiences.

The show in development has a protagonist who is a d/Deaf performer and will eventually be performed with a company of fully integrated disabled and non-disabled young people.
