Owen Moriarty, an emerging writer, producer and performer, has created a piece of music to accompany an immersive installation at this year’s Light Night Leeds.
This is the second year in a row that Leeds Conservatoire has collaborated with the UK’s largest arts and light festival.

Buckets, and Buckets, and Buckets of Light by Jack Wimperis
Owen, who studied on the conservatoire’s Music Production course, was commissioned to compose a soundtrack to enhance the sensory experience of the work, which will be on display in the SOYO Zone during the two-night event.
Created by artist Jack Wimperis, Buckets, and Buckets, and Buckets of Light will transform Playhouse Gardens into a stunning forest of up to 100 multi-coloured towers, ending in a glade bathed in sound towards the back of the site. Eye-catching colours will move rhythmically up and down the towers in a mesmerising light sequence.

The collaboration marks a significant step in Owen’s creative career. He said, “Writing a piece of music from my world of keyboards and soundscapes and textures has been amazing, but seeing my work shared in such a unique and original visual format has been even more affirming. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back to the Leeds community by collaborating with the Light Night event and sharing a small part of my music.”
Light Night Leeds returns on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 October 2025.
