UK Music launched a mini-report to mark 10 years of its Music Academic Partnership (MAP) initiative coinciding with a special anniversary event at the House of Lords in Westminster. Leeds Conservatoire colleagues joined with leaders from the worlds of music, education, and politics to mark the occasion.
The House of Lords reception highlighted MAP’s decade of success bringing the music industry and education sector together, creating pathways for the next generation of music professionals.
Speakers included UK Music Chief Executive Tom Kiehl who thanked all the partnered institutions that have helped build MAP over the last 10 years. Alex Sobel, Labour MP and co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Music, also addressed attendees to highlight the importance of music education.

UK Music published a MAP mini-report highlighting the partnership’s achievements over the past decade. The mini-report includes a case study from Leeds Conservatoire on the Creatives Across Sectors research project, led by Head of Strategic Partnerships and Enterprise James Warrender and Professor Jez Willis, designed to explore and highlight the immense value of transferable skills – particularly those cultivated through specialised training in music and drama.
