“The impact of the scholarship has meant I have had access to music and tech equipment which has enabled me to travel around the country playing cello as well as allowing me the opportunity to afford sheet music for future endeavours such as orchestral excerpts, studies, etudes, scores and technical music for future auditions.”

SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES
We’re determined that financial pressure should not dictate who can train here - or who can thrive once they arrive. Whether a student wants to perform, compose, produce, direct, or build a career behind the scenes, their potential deserves the space and support to flourish.
Leeds Conservatoire provides scholarships, bursaries, and emergency funding to meet students' needs either at the start of their journey, or during unexpected periods of crisis.
This fund is entirely sponsored by generous donors, who share our belief that no aspiring performer should be prevented from pursuing their passion because of cost or hardship.
Donate now“Your kind scholarship has supported my ability to pursue my training. It helps with housing and travel, and I purchased two new mutes so I can use new expressive language in my performances. I would not be able to complete my degree if it weren’t for the help of the scholarship you have so very kindly provided.”

GENEROUS DONATIONS WILL:
- Offer fee reductions to students from low-income backgrounds
- Contribute to hardship grants for those struggling with the cost of living during their studies
- Provide wellbeing support to students who need additional help to navigate a new life in a busy city
- Support with travel costs to and from performances, as students expand their horizons, networks and experience
INSTRUMENTAL GRANTS
A high‑quality instrument, tailored to a player’s needs, can transform a young musician’s potential by giving them the tools they need to excel. Many of our students begin their training at the Conservatoire on instruments that are borrowed or simply not of a sufficient standard for advanced study. Access to the right instrument can make all the difference to their development, confidence, and career prospects.

The guitar has helped me be more natural on stage, even down to interacting with the audience — it may sound silly, but it really feels like my magical suit of armour. It’s more than just a guitar; it’s my life guitar, it connects to my image, and it truly feels like it was meant for me.”

LEEDS JUNIOR CONSERVATOIRE
Leeds Junior Conservatoire (LJC) is a space for musicians aged 8–18 from Yorkshire and the North. It provides a nurturing environment for young people to develop their creativity, connected by their passion for music.
Currently 33% of students receive a full or partial bursary. We believe that finance should not be a barrier to great education and that no family should be turned down due to cost.
Donate now‘I’ve looked forward to every Saturday, always learning something new – whether instrumental, analytical, or just general life skills – and making lifelong friends who share the same passion for music. The atmosphere has helped me thrive, and I genuinely don’t think I’d have developed the skills needed for higher education without LJC.’

In addition to fee reductions, the fund pays for:
- 1-2-1 lessons with specialist teachers
- Support with exam fees and travel costs
- Mentors who work closely with the student, their family and their school to provide the holistic support they need to progress and excel in their musical education.
