Bhupinder Chaggar (BSc Hons, PGCE) has been affiliated with Leeds Conservatoire since 1997, where he studied Music Technology and also taught Tabla. A dedicated educator and practitioner, Bhupinder is a disciple of the late Pandit Sharda Sahai Ji (Leeds Conservatoire Fellow), a direct descendant of Pandit Ram Sahai Ji, the founder of the Benares Gharana. This rich lineage continues through Pandit Sanju Sahai Ji, the sixth-generation torchbearer of the tradition.

Bhupinder’s performance career spans decades and continents, collaborating with a diverse range of artists from traditional Hindustani Classical musicians to contemporary fusion bands touring across Europe and beyond. His deep rooted passion for sound reproduction and music production led him to pursue Music Technology academically, while simultaneously gaining hands-on experience in both studio and live environments.

During his university years, Bhupinder established a recording studio and production house, laying the foundation for a multifaceted career in audio consultancy, system setup, and live sound engineering. His expertise includes FOH mixing for global live productions, audio system design and consultancy and studio-based work. He has contributed to a wide array of projects, ranging from composing for The Hallé Orchestra, developing an iPhone app, and recording, mixing, and mastering numerous productions, film soundtracks and background scores.

Bhupinder’s mixing and production credits include work for major global platforms and studios such as Amazon, Netflix, Viacom, Sony, and Disney, showcasing his versatility and technical excellence across genres and formats. His work was also nominated for Best Production in South Indian Cinema for the critically acclaimed film Vidyum Munn.

A vibrant and committed educator, Bhupinder regularly shares his industry insights through workshops, masterclasses, and residencies across the UK. He remains a valued member of the teaching faculty at Leeds Conservatoire, inspiring the next generation of musicians and producers.
