Jasmine Simons is a composer and clarinettist based in West Yorkshire who holds a MusB Music and a MusM Instrumental and Vocal Composition from the University of Manchester.
Jasmine has composed for a variety of instrumental and vocal ensembles. Recently, she was selected for the University of Manchester’s ‘Songs of Sustainability’ project, which saw her work performed at Hallé St Peter’s and the Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama. She is particularly motivated by the role of composition in music education, having delivered composition and musicianship workshops in a variety of education settings. She was commissioned by Yorkshire Late Starters Strings to develop her work ‘Fantasia for Strings' in collaboration with the mixed-ability string orchestra following a workshop and selection process with composer Howard Skempton.
Teaching on the Experience programme at Leeds Junior Conservatoire she has contributed to materials for Discovering Music, a session designed to provide bespoke support to young musicians from a range of musical disciplines.
