Krishna Thiruchelvam is a professional musician, workshop practitioner and guitar teacher. Working both locally in Leeds and nationally including leading sessions on new ways of teaching music at the London Guildhall School of Music and being one of the original researchers and writers of the Leeds hub for Musical Futures (www.musicalfutures.org). Krishna’s workshops, designed when developing Musical futures, are now used across schools worldwide.
Krishna also plays in Leeds based band Middleman who are currently in the process of writing and recording their third album after the success of their debut “Spinning Plates”, released on Universal Records in the summer of 2010 and it’s follow up “Counterstep” in 2013. On top of playing over 150 gigs last year the band have had their music synced to Ajax (football team promo vid), adverts on many terrestrial TV channels as well as the NBA 2K11 Basketball computer game alongside Snoop Dogg and Two Door Cinema Club. The band have developed a strong international following over the past couple of years and have been fortunate enough to play Leeds & Reading Festivals, SXSW (Texas) and much of Germany, Holland and Belgium after signing to Suburban Records.
