Ensembles

Throughout the course of the year, any student can participate in extracurricular ensemble projects. These happen outside of your timetabled hours and are open to all courses. It is a great opportunity to engage in music outside of your course, or further expand your learning on your primary study. You will meet so many new people sharing a common interest, and most importantly, all the projects are designed to be enjoyed!

Our current ensembles...

LC Pop Choir

Comprised of Leeds Conservatoire students and alumni, LC Pop Choir is a high-octane choral ensemble, showcasing unique and original arrangements of well-known gospel, rock and pop repertoire.

The choir was officially founded in 2015 by Principal Lecturer Craig Lees. Craig is the Musical Director behind Leeds Contemporary Singers, a nine-piece vocal harmony group borne from the choir who rose to fame in 2017 as the winners of BBC One’s Pitch Battle.

In 2024 the choir competed in the final of How Sweet The Sound at the Royal Albert Hall. They also appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2025:

Folk Ensemble

Folk Ensemble is the only non-auditioned ensemble at the Conservatoire, and is designed for folk and non-folk students to approach and develop their skills in a genre they may or may not be familiar to. These sessions will take place on an early evening in order for them to be accessible to all. The ensemble will work towards a performance at ‘Crossroads’, a termly Folk Showcase Concert.

Student Union Ensembles

We also have a number of Student Union Ensembles for students to join. Our SU ensembles regularly undertake European tours and have recently performed in Germany, The Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
