LGBTQ+ Society
"I’m Lauren and I'm the President of the LGBTQ+ Society at Leeds Conservatoire. We are a community society, and we make sure that LGBTQ+ students here feel welcome and comfortable.
At the moment, we are hosting online events such as Zoom Quizzes and Virtual Gigs/Open Mics. When things are back to normal, we like hosting Live Music Events, Film Nights and Drink Socials.
Allies are completely welcome to all of our events, our main goal is providing a safe space for the community."
Big Band
"I'm Martin and I am the Musical Director of the LCSU Big Band.
We rehearse weekly, usually on a Thursday evening, throughout the year and perform a variety of Big Band repertoire at venues across the UK as well as on tours to locations such as Barcelona, Amsterdam etc.
We are an auditioned band that is open to all students and we usually run our sign-ups during Welcome Week and auditions in the following weeks."
Earth Society
"I’m Kim and I’m the president of the Earth Society at Leeds Conservatoire. We are a community and platform for anyone curious to learn more about sustainability and the environment. Everyone is welcome!
Our goal is to make information about climate change accessible, to initiate conversation and positive change. We organise talks and Q&A’s with guests from organisations such as Greenpeace and XR Leeds, have socials online, and once we can meet in person again, we will host live gigs, open mics and activities that students can join, if they want to."
Opera Society
"I'm Jane and I'm the president of the Opera Society at Leeds Conservatoire.
Each year we produce one fully-staged opera, and as of this academic year our members will also benefit from a new Masterclass and Coaching scheme. This allows students the opportunity to work directly with professional singers and directors and make valuable industry connections.
We also have a thriving online presence including an Online Recital Series, and regular Q&A's with industry professionals via Zoom.
Alongside these musical and professional opportunities, we organise a variety of social events to allow our members to make lasting social relationships and explore what a wonderful city Leeds is."
Dance Society
"I’m Kim, president of the Dance Society at Leeds Conservatoire. I teach free dance classes to all Conservatoire students, including Tap, Ballet and Jazz lessons.
At the moment we are operating online, with Yoga, Pilates and Dance-inspired Fitness classes that fit in your bedroom. You don’t have to have dance experience before joining, all levels are welcome!"
Gaming Society
"I’m Duncan, the president of the LCSU Gaming Society. We’re an inclusive community society who play both videogames and table-top games, and generally like to get together for a chat!
At the moment, we are hosting online events through Discord, such as our recent Trick vs. Treat fun week, where we played games each night and sent puzzles for each team to solve.
We’re also the only conservatoire gaming society who are members of online University esports leagues, part of both the NSE (National Students Esports) and NUEL (National University Esports League).
Usually we will be ruining our in-person tournaments and casual evenings, as well as drinking socials at the pixel gaming bar. Anyone is welcome to join us for any of our events, either as students or guests. We can’t wait to meet you!"

Camerata
"I'm Will, and I'm Manager of the LCSU Camerata.
We usually rehearse on Tuesday evenings and play a variety of repertoire. It allows our students to gain more experience with orchestral playing, whilst having fun, and is open to anyone, even if you aren't studying Classical Music.
We have previously been on tour to Germany, and look forward to resuming face-to-face rehearsals as soon as possible. Until this is possible, we are doing what we can to work online and keep everyone playing!"
Christian Union
"Hi, my name's Luke and I'm the president of Leeds Conservatoire Christian Union (LCCU).
The CU is a group of Christians who are committed to living for Jesus and the Bible wherever we go on campus and giving all students the opportunity to respond to the Gospel.
We are a mix of many different denominations who meet together around the message of the Gospel and encourage one another in faith. We meet to pray, worship and study God's word together. Whether a Christian or not, you are welcome."
