Sound City has selected four Leeds Conservatoire artists to perform at this year’s festival; the tenth year in a row. To mark this milestone, as well as the conservatoire’s own 60th anniversary, sessions have also been added to the Sound City+ Conference schedule.

The 2025 competition took place in the city of Shaoxing with participants predominantly from high profile conservatories in China. Leeds Conservatoire was the only British institution invited.

Together they will launch an exclusive Music Production and Songwriting programme in Chengdu, China. This is a bespoke programme, opening new pathways for talented students in China who aspire to pursue undergraduate music degrees in the UK.

Students, soon-to-be graduates, and alumni from Leeds Conservatoire are set to perform and complete paid placements at We Out Here festival. This is linked to an ongoing partnership, now in its fifth year.

This summer, Leeds becomes the stage for a spectacular, city centre immersive experience inspired by Lewis Carroll’s timeless tales.

Following a successful collaboration at last year’s Sketches, involving a Music Production student from Leeds Conservatoire and a Northern Ballet dancer and choreographer, a new alliance was part of the 2025 programme.
