Join us and learn how to record audio outside of a traditional studio environment.
Our experienced tutor will lead exciting workshops designed to develop your skills.
The program is for anyone interested in recording audio independently of a traditional studio environment, this might include music recorded in a bedroom, location recording, foley recordings, or voice overs, live streams and podcasts.
This course is intended to help students to get the most out of any recording equipment that might be available to them, developing transferable skills such as organisation, project management and working to a brief, problem solving, and working independently and within a team to produce a final product ready for release.
The course is applicable to beginners with no prior experience, to anyone who has already worked in a recording studio, and those preparing for further and / or higher education. The fundamental skills we will explore rely on making the most of limited equipment, rather than relying on having access to costly high end equipment and / or purpose built recording spaces.
Students will not be required to use their own equipment to complete this course. Included in the course will be guidance on suitable equipment for limited budgets.
The course will allow students to work on their own projects, and the programme will culminate in students producing release-ready content, including making artwork for free, and advice on streaming platforms.
Students will work solo and in groups, following a program of learning over 18 weeks. The program is designed to provide learners with the independence, technical skills, awareness and listening skills, inventiveness and appreciation for alternative or ‘lo-fi’ methods, and ‘DIY’ philosophy to record and mix release-ready material themselves, with limited equipment.
